ABEBE LEWIS

Born in Jamaica and raised in Miami Lakes — where he came up alongside future stars like Nas and Ne‑Yo — Abebe Lewis was a standout basketball prospect at American High School before a brief stint at Florida A&M redirected him back to South Florida and into the family business. In 1997, at 19, he started learning audio engineering at Circle House Studios, the North Miami recording house his father Ian Lewis and uncle Roger Lewis (of reggae legends Inner Circle) built by converting a house into a studio, deliberately recreating the feel of a Jamaican yard session — poolside vocal booth, private chef, and all.

Two decades later, Abebe owns and runs Circle House himself. He holds producer credits on three tracks from Trick Daddy's debut album Based on a True Story, and the studio's walls have hosted early career‑defining sessions for Flo Rida, Trina, and Pitbull, plus work from Pharrell Williams (including "Happy"), No Doubt, Mary J. Blige, Lenny Kravitz, Enrique Iglesias, Rico Love, and Good Charlotte — earning Circle House Miami New Times' "Best Recording Studio" title in 2018. Grammy‑nominated engineer Erwing "Kslae" Olivares (2023 Album of the Year nomination for Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers) trained and worked out of Circle House. Every Tuesday, Abebe still teaches a hands‑on engineering class at the studio — alumni include Ryan Evans (now with Jason Derulo) and Ben Billions (production credits with DJ Khaled).

That same ear for talent and instinct for what makes a record — or an artist — connect became the foundation for his other ventures:

• Media Personality — Behind the Beats: The TV/interview series he hosts and executive‑produces, sitting down with names like Trina, Ball Greezy, and Ky‑mani Marley; he's also an Advisory Board member for Universal Media Group and executive producer on the TV series Before The Fame with Mike Sherman.
