About

JahYut, born Richard Alton Blair, is a Miami‑based reggae artist, singer‑songwriter and multi‑instrumentalist whose music moves naturally across roots reggae, dancehall, soul and hip‑hop while remaining grounded in consciousness, resilience, love and uplift.

An important chapter of his recording career is his Music Life body of work. Songs from the project include “Love Like This,” “Mr Martin” and “Can’t Stop The Bubbling,” alongside recordings including “No Turning Around,” “One Life to Live,” “Take You Higher,” “My Love,” “Sweet Lady” and “Illusions.” Produced in collaboration with Slick of Slick N Jones, the project showcased JahYut’s range—from conscious and reflective songwriting to romantic and dance‑driven material. “Illusions” also connected the project creatively with Black‑N-Brown, who contributed to its production.

JahYut’s music reached beyond Miami early in his career. In 2004, he joined European artist Jagger for Bustin’ Up Di Dancehall, an international collaboration released as a 12‑inch vinyl and five‑track EP through Nodhead Production. Featuring the original recording alongside remix, acapella and instrumental versions, the release brought JahYut’s reggae and dancehall sensibilities into a European hip‑hop context and added an international dimension to his growing catalog.

His collaborative work also includes a longstanding musical connection with fellow TTC member Melodic Yoza. JahYut contributed to multiple Yoza recordings, including “Higher” and “We Are One,” with the latter appearing on Yoza’s 2014 album Jam Ya Jazzy. The collaborations reflect the ease with which JahYut has moved among reggae, dancehall, hip‑hop and soul while building creative relationships with artists whose music similarly crosses traditional genre boundaries.

Another distinctive moment in JahYut’s catalog came with “Bomaye’,” his collaboration with KM and Tenise A. The high‑energy recording became associated with four‑time World Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield’s ring entrance, taking JahYut’s voice from the recording studio into one of sports’ most dramatic settings. His wider recorded catalog also includes “No More,” “Africa Is Calling” and the Prospect collaboration “Warrior.”

JahYut’s connection to The Talent Catalog reaches back long before the platform existed. In 2001, he was among the first artists TTC founder Michael “Ommy” Caraballo connected with after arriving on South Beach as the aspiring bilingual H.I.P.H.O.P. artist Black‑N-Brown. The two became part of Miami’s independent creative scene, hosting events, collaborating and performing together. During an open mic at Miami Beach’s legendary Purdy Lounge, JahYut performed the hook to Black‑N-Brown’s “Ven Aquí Mamita” while BNB delivered his verses in Spanish—an early example of the cross‑cultural, artist‑to‑artist collaboration that would eventually become part of the spirit behind TTC.

Their creative relationship extended from the stage into the studio through Black‑N-Brown’s contribution to JahYut’s “Illusions.” More than two decades later, JahYut’s presence on The Talent Catalog brings that history full circle: one of the earliest artists in the creative community surrounding TTC’s founder is now part of the platform created to connect, document and amplify independent talent.

From Miami’s independent music scene to international vinyl releases, cross‑genre collaborations and a recording connected to a heavyweight champion, JahYut has built a career defined by musical versatility, creative relationships and a commitment to music with purpose.
