Oberlin, OH, United States

RnB Redux is a two‑hour Sunday‑night R&B journey on WOBC 91.5 FM, Oberlin College and community radio, hosted by Wonder Woman Farah Emeka. Every episode is built around one theme and moves through soul, funk, jazz, new jack swing, house, hip‑hop and neo‑soul as a single conversation, from Sam Cooke and the Isley Brothers to Lucky Daye, Alex Isley and Robert Glasper. Tune in live, then step into the WOBC Radio Lobby on The Talent Catalog to chat with Farah and fellow listeners in real time.

About

RnB Redux treats R&B as a living family tree. The show launched on WOBC in spring 2022 as a Saturday‑night show from “The Wonder Women,” DJ EJ (Eboni A. Johnson) and Farah Emeka. From the start, it shared each week’s recording and full playlist with its listener community. Since October 2023, Farah has carried RnB Redux on her own, now on Sunday nights, while DJ EJ went on to co‑host her own WOBC show, “Jammin” with DJ EJ & Tyrone!

Each week brings a new theme, like “Light ’Em Up,” “Friends,” “Duets,” “Goodbye,” “Calling…,” and “Puttin’ in That Work!” Each theme becomes a 20‑plus‑song arc that connects generations: Marvin Gaye beside Maxwell, Gladys Knight beside Beyoncé, Roy Ayers beside Theo Croker. Era nights like “Schoolin’ ’Em – Middle School” revisit the new jack swing and house records that defined a generation. The show’s signature idea, “The R&B of Jazz,” traces the shared roots of both genres.

Farah Emeka is an Oberlin College alum (OC ‘97) who returned to Oberlin with her family two decades ago. She has been a community leader ever since, including serving as president of the Oberlin City Schools Board of Education and on boards including the Ruby N. Jones Community Scholarship Fund and the Lorain County Urban League.

WOBC has broadcast since 1950. It airs 150+ weekly programs created by student and community volunteers, serving Lorain County and western Greater Cleveland on FM and listeners worldwide online.

RnB Redux on TTC: RnB Redux is a TTC radio partner. It has access to the TTC Radio Approved playlist of pre‑screened member music and poetry cleared for college and community radio. Its live themed chat lets the show connect with listeners who would never call in, or who live far outside the broadcast area.
