TRUALITY M.E.N.T.O.R.

Born in Nassau, Bahamas, and raised in Miami’s Opa‑locka and Carol City communities, TruAlity M.E.N.T.O.R.—also known as TruAlity Da Poet—has taken his voice nationwide and worldwide through the spoken word.

A poet, lyricist, and recording artist, TruAlity creates from a place of truth, reflection, and lived experience. His work moves between spoken word, poetry, lyricism, and music, exploring consciousness, relationships, spirituality, personal growth, culture, and social realities. His purpose goes beyond entertainment: he uses words to challenge perspectives, provoke thought, and create meaningful conversation.

TruAlity’s recorded history reaches back to his earlier years performing as M.E.N.T.O.R. His 16‑track album Truality, released in 2012, blended poetry, lyricism, music, social observation, and personal reflection across tracks including “Hip Rock Poetry,” “The Blunt Truth,” “Predators,” and “Addiction.” As Jenson “M.E.N.T.O.R.” Cox, he also appeared on Miami stages, including a 2013 bill alongside R&B artist Adina Howard.

More than a decade later, M.E.N.T.O.R. remains part of his creative evolution. In 2025, performing as TruAlity Da Poet, he released two full‑length projects: Epiphany and The Soul Of A Man. Epiphany includes “I’m Da Mentor,” connecting his earlier artistic identity to the voice and perspective he carries today.

Beyond his own recordings and performances, TruAlity continues to create space for spoken‑word artists and truth‑driven expression. In 2026, he presented The TRU BARZ Show, bringing featured artists and emerging poets together for an evening centered on spoken word and message.

TruAlity is also a founding member of The Talent Catalog (TTC) and Talent4Change (T4C), with a relationship to both organizations reaching back to their earliest stages. He performed at TTC’s Free Your Mind poetry event at Chop Shop in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District, sharing the stage with an array of artists including fellow TTC member Alexander Star and his band, The Golden People. TruAlity later appeared alongside TTC members Azeem and Brotha Scott at ArtsLaunch at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

He was also interviewed by ATC and DJ X on Generational Confusion, a TTC co‑produced show. Today, that relationship continues through The TTC Radio Show on WOBC 91.5 FM Oberlin College and Community Radio, hosted by TTC founder Michael Ommy, where TruAlity’s poetry is featured in rotation.

From Nassau to Miami, from M.E.N.T.O.R. to TruAlity, and from recordings and live stages to radio and community, one thing has remained constant: his belief in the power of words. For TruAlity, spoken word is more than performance. It is a vehicle for truth, reflection, connection, and changing the way people see what may have once looked ordinary.
